… has some new features including
- on demand loading of tweets when you scroll down the tweet list.
- due to popular demand: twitpic is back! You can now select between uploading your photos to Mobypicture.com or twitpic. Uploading to Mobypicture even allows you to geocode your pics if you have a GPS phone.
- support for more phones: MIDP2.1 phones should work now (e.g. N96, and others)
see here for the full list.

As most of you know there are new versions of twibble desktop and twibble mobile. The older versions were accessing the twibble server (via api.twibble.de). The new twibble clients will access twitter (or identi.ca) directly with no twibble server in between. If you are still using an older twibble version you will see a message to update as we will shut down the twibble server for the older clients soon.

Another beta of twibble mobile for J2ME enabled phones is available! Despite several bug fixes the new version let’s you to follow user timelines and hashtags (via twitter search). Check out the new menu item ‘open in browser’. And (again) the new version is much faster than before. It fetches tweets, replies and direct messages almost instantly (given a fast network connection and fast twitter response times). And the app is still just about 95 kByte in size!
By default, the new version accesses twitter via http. If you want a secure connection enter https://twitter.com in the ‘Server api root’ field under Options. To try the new version navigate to http://m.twibble.de using your phone browser and follow the installation procedure.
Update: Version 0.9.8 fixes the ‘Connection not Writable’ error on some Blackberry devices and tweet times not updating properly when they move down the tweet list.

thanks to all twibble mobile testers we’ve got a new version available. Despite a couple of bug fixes it allows to follow all links in the browser (not just the first one). There is also a new option to specify to auto scroll the tweet list when new messages arrive. Some other features are described in this post. Point your phone browser to http://m.twibble.de and download the latest beta.
A note to SonyEricsson users: Most SE phones don’t seem to accept twitter’s ssl certificate. There are 2 ways to get around the prob: Either you can switch off SSL by entering “http://twitter.com” in server api root or you can try to install a certificate as described by moeffju and Martin Campbell here. Thx for the hints, guys!

The public beta of the all new twibble mobile for Java enabled smartphones is now available. It has been rewritten from the ground and includes many improvements:
- Different screens for tweets, replies, and direct messages. You can flip through the screens using the right and left keys (trackball).
- avatar pics (enable in options or leave disabled for low bandwidth connections).
- support for identi.ca and private/corporate laconi.ca instances.
- support for uploading photos to Mobypicture.com. Photos will even be geocoded if you have a GPS enabled phone! Look here for an example.
- much nicer Blackberry integration. twibble functions are directly accessible via the standard BB menu key.
- more themes including darkred and pink.
- faster, smaller memory footprint, and better overall UI experience.
- no intermediate server, requests will directly access the twitter servers securely via https.
Point your phone browser to http://m.twibble.de and follow the instructions. The final version will be signed to get rid of the annoying confirmation/security dialogs. This is a beta version which will expire on June, 1st. As always, looking forward to your feedback!
