twibble’s new Pic Browser

In Version 0.9.15 twibble mobile just got a fine picture browser helping you to select the right file to send to twitpic or Mobypicture. It presents thumbnails of the JPG-files in the selected directory.

After installation make sure your application permissions are set correctly. Otherwise you’ll see tons of annoying confirmation dialogs when browsing through the files. Also keep in mind that the generation of thumbnails can be slow. It’s a good idea to keep the number of pics in a directory small. In addition Version 0.9.15 fixes some encoding and scrolling problems. Due to popular demand the shortcut to save favorite tweets is back on ’7′. The twitter search is on [#] or [s]. As before [*] or [u] refreshes the current view (including search).

This is just what Ive been waiting for, and it works great =D

All I want to see now is the ability to take a snapshot with the camera and upload it directly to Twitpic. No saving, then opening Twibble, then making a Tweet, then browsing etcetc

Also, a cleaner looking menu would be appreciated, like the older blackberry one =P

Where can I sumbit ideas/requests?

Good to see neat little updates coming out quite redregularly. Big fan. Keep up the good work!

Sadly in this new version, when I try to add a picture, it loads the first image, then crashes with an application error “Out of Memory Error java/lang/OutOfMemoryError”.

Sadly this renders the new version useless. I’m using a Nokia 6500classic.

It looks nice, the PicBrowser. But trying to use the PicBrowser with the correct settings (“Allways allowed”) in Application Manager now, it does net yet work as expected. I still do have to permit every single picture before I can see them and select the one I want to use. So something is not yet as it should be on my N95 8GB.

@Russ the pic browser has changed in 0.9.16. Preview is now optional: http://www.twibble.de/2009/05/31/twibbles-new-pic-browser-2/

@H.J. de Vries Strange, works fine here on a N95. The setting in question is ‘Read user data’ which is supposed to be ‘Always allowed’ You need to install the jad file (NOT the jar) which has the signature. Try Version 0.9.16.

@HellsPlumber the best idea to share ideas is probably here! What am I am doing: I usually have twibble running in the background. After taking a pic I can quickly switch to twibble and send the photo. Not a direct tweet as you described but ok in most cases, I think.

@Wunga, thank you!

Updated to version 9.17. Now PicBrowser works as discribed. Opening the image folder I now only have tot choose “show all thumbnails” and they are showed. Again a quick correction ! Thank you. Good work.
