twibble mobile with notifications

twibble mobile notification optionsThe the latest twibble mobile vibrates if new tweets arrive. Yeah! Fortunately you can also switch it off ;) And Version 0.8.5 features the first user generated theme: @watfordgap provided a true master piece, afaik. Thank you! And last but not least it has some changes which should make twibble more useful on Blackberry devices. Read on here!

Vibration rocks! Or….would. If it would work on my phone. Bugger sends applications in the background to sleep, so Twibble doesn’t even get to fetch new tweets. Bummer.
But. Great idea anyway!

your phone rocks! or would. if it would vibrate ;) well may be the OS of your phone puts twibble in the background with no cpu cycles left for twibble. In that case there not much twibble can do, I’m afraid … is there some twibble activity going on when in background? you can check the log

Hi there- latest (0.8.5) will only work on a Nokia E71 if you do not change the theme. Change the theme, and it just sits at a very empty, sad screen.
Hope this is a minor fix!
And thanks for creating twibble!!!
(PS: I did try removing, restarting, re-installing- didn’t help.)

@JRendell please make sure the time period for fetching tweets is not 0. In this case twibble doesn’t attempt to load tweets and the screen stays blank until you reload manually

can’t seem to append images on e71… Log shows no errors, tried clean re-installing, no joy.

Also, when u select append picture, then click ‘no’ on ‘access phone data’, the screen goes blank with no way to return to the previous screen. Hope this helps :)

PS: <3 ur product :)

I guess, the Blackberry OS doesnt allow for the Notifications?, I think, also I find everytime I exit Twibble when I hit the icon it ask for permission, I have all the permissions set to automatically allow?

In version 0.8.5 at a Nokia N95 with the last version 30.something if a change the period of fetching tweets to 0 instead of 10, the next time i try to start twibble won’t open, the screen will stay with de normal background of the mobile and the title of twibble but nothing else, and the buttons won’t work, just the red one to shut down all twibble.

In order to make the permissions work on the Blackberry everytime (instead of having to allow it every time you run it) you have to turn on the Firewall.

Do this from:
Options -> Security -> Firewall -> Status: (change from Disabled to Enabled)

Take note that every application that uses the network will prompt you to set a rule now. However, once that’s done, you’ll never hear from them again. Do it once, and all the apps run wonderfully.

However, Twibble will still not run in the background correctly.

@Blackberry thanks for the hints! However, some folks still seem not to be able to switch off the network permisson dialogs on their BB. Is there something else to consider?
As for the running twibble in the background, what is the exact problem? Is there something meaningful in the log?
