BBC mashup using blogs, maps, and twibble

as a follow-up of a previous post describing how BBC Sport is using twibble at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games, here’s a picture how the result looks like. They are aggregating their blog posts, twitter feeds, and other location data into an interactive map. A click on the map will take you to their site.

Thats excellent. I have not tried Twibble myself but will give it a shot on my Blackberry to see how it performs.
Thanks
Mike

Hmm, sadly it does not seem to start up on my Blackberry 8320, OS 4.5

BB is not offically supported yet, but it’s on top of the list! It already works fine in the BB emulator but we still need to go through the BB signing stuff.
However, it seems some folks got twibble running on their BBs: http://blackberryforums.pinstack.com/showthread.php?t=76786
Are you using a BlackBerry Enterprise Server or do you have a direct TCP connection? Can you access http://api.twibble.de via your phone browser? Did you try twibble with SSL on? You may also want to raise the log level.

Thanks for your reply thilo. There is a post here regarding the blackberry signing etc.

not sure how true it is as I am not a BB programmer. When we install an application on OS 4.5 it does ask if we want to grant it ‘trusted application’ status, maybe that is one way round it, not sure.

I am on BES yes, I can get to api.tribble.de fine from bb browser.

How do I raise the log level or use SSL for twibble?
It just seems to lock up my phone, no menus or anything.

thanks again
Mike
