twibble desktop 0.3.3

Version 0.3.3 of twibble desktop supports secure connections via https. This is useful e.g. when you’re twibbeling via an WiFi hotspot you don’t trust that much. You can enable https in the settings dialog. Note, use of https may decrease the overall performance.

It also has a new keyboard shortcut ‘u’ to update your tweet list (like clicking on the profile tab). twibble should auto update itself on Mac and PC (not sure on Linux running the alpha version of AIR). Get it here.

On Ubuntu, if you re-start the app, it notices the new version and offers to update. Clicking “update now” causes app to exit but not to update. Only a tiny inconvenience really.

Great job on twibble!
The various timeline features (viewing a friend’s friend’s timeline, for one) is very cool. kudos to you, keep up the great work ;)

Twibble doenst seem to work om my Windows Vista. Have Air 1.0. Keep getting Network Error alerts. Tried two different networks.

@jthorese should work on Vista. When you hover over the Network Error icon you should see an error message. What does it display? Sometimes the twitter server itself is broken or overloaded.
Let me know if the problem persists.

Do you get a response when you load this URI from your browser?

If no you can’t access the twibble server for some reason. If yes please re-check the username/pwd in the settings dialog. The username is your twitter screen name you provided during registration with twitter (not the e-mail)

That did the trick. Mixed up user name and email and got confused by the error messages. Thanks a lot.

I am a convert from twhirl .. (ubuntu 8.04, air alpha). Only small minor comment, is the colour scheme. I’d prefer something softer than black and white. But I am still a convert: keys for me:
- multiple accounts
- fast
- writtten in Ruby :-)
- elegant confuguration tools

Well done!!
Colin
